In 1914, Bareville Concrete Company was founded. The Company manufactured decorative cement blocks. Many houses in Bareville, Lancaster County and surrounding Counties, are built with the blocks. Sometime after WWII the building industry slowed and the first burial vault was manufactured. At that time the block manufacturing was phased out and the burial vault business continued. In 1985 we purchased Shade Burial Vault Company in Harrisburg, on April 29, 2004 we purchased the Con-O-Lite Burial Vault Company of Schaefferstown, and on May 1, 2007 we purchased Central Penn Wilbert of Enola. With these acquisitions we will widen our area of coverage to better serve our Funeral Directors and families they serve. The business is now a 3rd generation family-owned business that is now called Evans Burial Vaults, Inc. and Evans Cremation Service. We manufacture EAGLE SENTINEL, TRIGARD, DORIC, Con-O-Lite and WILBERT lines of burial vaults. We are a member of NCBVA (National Concrete Burial Vault Association) and a 5 Star Burial Vault Manufacturing Plant. In 1990 we started our crematory at the Leola location, and in 1999 we put a 2nd retort unit into service at the Leola location, and with the acquired Con-O-Lite, located in Schaefferstown, we now have 4 retort units, to better serve. We have been a member of CANA (Cremation Association of North America) since 1990 and are CANA certified.
